Are FREE coaching sessions any good?

If you’re someone who might be thinking about coaching you may be wary of the FREE or COMPLIMENTARY sessions you see advertised on coach’s websites and nervous about accepting.

That’s what this blog is about!

I wanted to dispel some myths like:

  • This is too good to be true
  • It will be a waste of my time
  • I’d rather pay for a coach then I’ll be sure I get quality
  • You get nothing for free in this world
  • If it smells like a rat…

This is too good to be true

Almost any responsible coach who is sure of their skills will be happy to offer you a free session because they know you will get value from it.  They will also want you to learn how powerful good coaching can be as this give credibility to our profession as a whole.

There is a lot talked about coaching these days but there are still a lot of people who don’t know much about it and have never had it. If that’s YOU, then what better way to get a sample of coaching than to sign up for a free session with a coach who already helps people like you?

The session is proposed in different ways – maybe part of an ongoing package, the first of which is free (but then you still have to sign up for the package first!) or a money-back guaranteed session or in other ways.

I offer 30 minute ‘Breaking through the Blocks’  coaching sessions on the telephone, no strings attached,  to women entrepreneurs and executive women who are at transition points in their lives. I can guarantee that you will get a breakthrough in that time and you will come out of the session with at least two concrete action steps you can take to help you break through!  Just this should convince you of the efficacy of coaching!

It will be a waste of my time

If results are guaranteed even from a relatively short session, you can be assured that this will not be a waste of your time (after all, the coach won’t want to waste their time either). You will work on an issue that is real to you and get some help moving through it – what could be better?

I’d rather pay for a coach then I’ll be sure I get quality

Fair enough but don’t confuse “free offers” with lack of quality.  Someone who wants you to pay up front may not be totally confident that they can deliver. A professional coach who is prepared to invest their time in you is doing it because they know they can help you.

You get nothing for free in this world

If it says ‘free’ then it is ‘FREE’!  When I work with someone I may find that further coaching would be helpful for them in which case I would suggest they continue working with a coach, whether that’s me or someone else but the choice is theirs and there’s no hard sell. Anyway, you need to feel comfortable with the coach and I may not be the best fit for you so I personally don’t see it as a way of trapping would-be clients!!

If it smells like a rat …

You have to be realistic about what can be accomplished in one session. No coach in the world can help you move forward on everything you want to change in your life in one session! The way I work is to establish the parameters of the call up front so we are both crystal clear on what issue we are working on and if I don’t think it’s ‘do-able’ in 30 minutes, I’ll work with you first to clarify what is.

So I advise you to take up the offers and explore what coaching is about and how it can help you. I am a firm believer in coaching for everyone at key points in their lives and know from my own experience that it has helped me move forward both personally and professionally; in fact, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today!

If you’re a woman entrepreneur or an executive women at a transition point in your life and want to take ME up on my offer of a 30 minute session then  don’t delay. I don’t always have the capacity to offer these sessions, so make the most of this chance and go to my website today! http://www.movingforwardyourway.com
